Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) gets May 2021 Security Patch Update

Samsung is consistently rolling out new updates to all the eligible smartphones. The May 2021 Security patch was initially released to the Galaxy S21 Series, Galaxy S20 Series, and Galaxy Note 20 Series. Recently, Samsung has expanded the update to mid-range smartphones. Now, the three-year old Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) is getting the May 2021 Security Patch update.

The new update for the Galaxy A8 (2018) is seeding on the firmware variant A530FXXSJCUE1. At the moment, the update is limitedly rolling out only in the United Arab Emirates (EAU), and we can expect a broader rollout in the next few days.

The changelog of the update states that it dispatches only with the security improvements. Apart from that, we can’t expect more because the device has already secured a couple of updates with significant changes in the past itself. A few months back, Samsung has announced the four years of Security Patch updates to the smartphones launched after 2019. As per the official list, the device is mentioned to receive the security updates biannually. But, Samsung is releasing updates every month. However, the smartphone is expected to receive updates till Q2 of 2021.

The update is taking place in a phased manner. So, you may need to wait for a few days to grab it. To manually check the update, head to Settings>Software updates and check for the updates.

There’s a 16-Mp rear camera and a 16-MP + 8-MP dual selfie camera. A 3,000 mAh battery backs the device. On the top, the phone runs Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) out of the box.
